Photo Journal – Rockland, Maine

Rockland

I don’t think you start appreciate the beauty of silence until you move into a big, bustling city where silence becomes a rare luxury. Back in June, I took a spontaneous weekend roadtrip with friends old and new from New York City to Rockland, Maine. It’s unbelievable how silence can be so loud. We found ourselves out on the breakwater that led to the historic Rockland Harbor lighthouse, surrounded by miles of water and absolute silence. It was surreal, refreshing, and unlike anything my body and mind had ever experienced, to the point that I still crave such moments today. As we soaked it all in, the skies turned from blue to pink to pale lavender, swirling together with the first hints of winking stars and enveloping us in the most beautiful dusk light.
