Discover TROVE: 3D Printed Jewelry

Oh, the unexpected yet inescapable dichotomy of fashion and technology!

Even the current hot fashion topic of the new Manus x Machina exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art is exploring the marriage of technology and fashion, specifically in the creation of haute couture and avant-garde ready-to-wear. In fact, one display in the exhibit is a collection of Chanel haute couture suits crafted from 3D printing with white polyamide overlay. But 3D printing extends well beyond extravagant fashion house pieces; it’s also overtaking the jewelry world by a storm. And that’s where Trove comes in.

An online destination for discovering, sharing, and customizing 3D printed jewelry designs, Trove is the newest innovative platform to make 3D printing accessible for the everyday person. With no need for any fancy tech background experience, anyone can easily browse through a variety of design templates and use Trove’s in-browser customization software to fully personalize the jewelry pieces, from metal choice to the smallest design details. Visitors to the website can also explore and browse through designs previously customized by others on Trove. Perhaps the coolest part is that the visitors can then use those designs as inspiration and further customize the pieces to fit their own style. Maybe it’s the creative in me talking, but anything that spurns innovation with community instantly wins bonus points with me.

And so a few weeks ago, I happily joined in on a mini campaign shoot with the Trove team to showcase some of their gorgeous 3D printed jewelry. I already had the Parted Ring in my jewelry arsenal from before, but during the shoot, I instantly fell in love with the Heartbeat Ring and Waterdrop Ring and couldn’t resist customizing my own versions to take home with me!

Hope you enjoy these images! And don’t forget to head over to Trove’s blog to check out my little Q&A with the team!
