Two-For-One

Savoring my last few days of temperate LA weather before I jet off to the other side of the country! Only in Southern California can I get away with wearing a thin top-and-skirt combination layered with an oversized scarf in the middle of January. But here’s a fun fact: I’m actually wearing a dress underneath my skirt! That’s the beauty of bodycon dresses: you can maximize its versatility by layering it so that the dress is essentially worn as a top, as seen here: to refresh a classic body-hugging LBD, I simply wore it underneath a floral A-line skirt. Voilà – wardrobe options doubled!

The trick to keep in mind is that the thinner the dress, the easier it is to layer it underneath anything, and it will certainly help if the skirt that’s over your bodycon dress is A) not form-fitting, B) thick enough to conceal any accidental bulk/scrunching from the dress, and C) long enough to hide your dress. Some great examples include this plaid skirt, this print skirt, this faux leather skirt, this wool skirt, and this scallop hem skirt.

As always, thanks so much for reading! Wishing you all a happy and productive Monday!
