Thanksgiving Shopping & Thoughts

Thanksgiving shopping

And just like that, we’re approaching the close of November.

If you think about it, perhaps everyday should be Thanksgiving, a reminder that every moment is fleeting, every moment is volatile, every moment is inimitable. You start to appreciate life’s moments more when you realize that you can never relive that same snapshot and experience the same feelings and thoughts at that same particular time.

Maybe it’s because this is the first Thanksgiving that I’m spending so far away from home and without my family, but I’m finding so many things to be incredibly grateful for this year. These past few months have been a blur, with much of it shrouded in disheartened darkness for me, personally. But I’ve learned that flowers still grow after tornadoes have hurtled through. The sun still shines after the darkest hours have persisted. Hope can feel blind, and, ironically, hope can hurt as well, but sometimes, it’s exactly what we need to get through it all – hope, and finding gratitude in the little things of we do have.

On a less bleak note, there’s also Thanksgiving shopping to keep in mind! With the transition of the seasons, there’s no opportunity like Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales to stock up on winter necessities (and mastering the art of layering!). Below, I’m sharing some of the sales I’ll be browsing through this week –

Shopbop: Take up to 25% off all full-price and sale items with code GOBIG16
Net-A-Porter: Take up to 50% off your favorite designer brands
Express: Take 50% off your purchase, plus free shipping
Intermix: Take 40% off new designer markdowns
Rebecca Minkoff: Take 25% off sitewide when you spend $100 or more, plus free shipping
Nine West: Take 50% off all boots and booties, plus free shipping
Barneys New York: Take up to 40% off select pieces
Last Call: Take up to 80% off everything until Nov 25
Neiman Marcus: Take 40% off regular prices in select Better Apparel
Urban Outfitters: Buy one, get one 50% off all apparel through Nov 25
Madewell: Take 25% off your entire purchase with code THATSALE

So many amazing deals, so little money and closet space! But on a serious note, this holiday is much more than just shopping and feasting. To stem my deluge of thoughts here, I leave you with these outfit images to spark some warm-autumn wardrobe inspiration that consists of two basics – a classic striped button-down and a black skort (skirt works too) – and a top piece that anchors the look together, such as this asymmetric hem vest. Also, remember: Family is forever, love transcends all. Take photos, lots of them. Live in the moment, and do more good for others with what you have.

Happy Thanksgiving.
