Little Red Dress

DSC08963_2

In hindsight, this could totally work as an Independence Day outfit with the whole red/whitebeige/blue thing going on, but since there’s still a few more weeks until the 4th of July weekend, I’m just going to go ahead and share these shots with you today!

Remember how I always complain about not loving hot days? That still holds true – my body just seizes up and literally rejects hot temperatures by firing up rashes, migraines, dizzy spells…you name it. The current heat wave is simmering down, but just a few nights ago, I suddenly woke up, feeling horribly hot and I found myself having trouble breathing. I flung open my bedroom door and stumbled into my kitchen area, where the air was much cooler (every room in my apartment has amazing air ventilation except my bedroom, apparently). But I slightly digress with this story! The point is, now I allow myself to utilize the air conditioning on sweltering hot nights, and during the daytime, I survive by wearing airy dresses like this one from Forever 21! I’m usually never one to buy anything in red, but this dress caught my eye and I decided to just go for it. The front strappy detail is super cute and can adorn the neckline in the place of a statement necklace, and the flouncy, lightweight silhouette allows my body to breathe and not totally collapse from a fatal heat stroke.

So far, I’m liking this pop of color! I’ve grown so used to wearing neutrals, especially blacks, and it’s really refreshing to venture outside my comfort zone with colorful fabrics. I can’t say for sure, but maybe, just maybe, you’ll start to see me in more bright hues this summer season…

Happy Friday!
